BULGARIA - GREECE
Day 1. Arrival at Sofia Airport.
Arrival at Sofia. Transfer to hotel Sofia Dedeman Princess Hotel 4****. Dinner and overnight in Sofia.
Day 2. Sofia
Breakfast. City tour of Sofia including the Sveta. Nedelya Sq.,the 4th century AD Rotunda St George, The Presidency, National Theatre, The City Garden, Russian Church St. Nicolas, Parliament Square, Alexander Nevski Memorial Cathedral with the most valuable collection of Bulgarian Icons (13-19th c), Sveta Sofia Church (6th c). Lunch and free time for leisure and shopping or optional excursion to the National Historic Museum and Boyana Church (UNESCO site). Dinner and overnight at Sofia Dedeman Princess Hotel, 4****.
Day 3. Sofia – Troyan Monastery - Veliko Tarnovo & Arbanassi
Breakfast and departure to Veliko Tarnovo - the medieval capital of the Second Bulgarian Kingdom. On the way, visit of the Troyan Monastery (the most important monastery in the region, where you can see one of the Miraculous Icons of the Virgin). Lunch at local resaurant and continue to Veliko Tarnovo. Sightseeing tour of Veliko Turnovo, with its stone houses perched over the banks of the Yantra River. Visit Tsarevets Hill and tour the ruins of the King’s Castle, Byzantine fortress, and old town. Visit the unique Holy Nativity Church in Arbanassi - Dinner and overnight in Veliko Tarnovo.
Day 4. Veliko Tarnovo – Etara – Shipka – Kazanlak – Plovdiv
Breakfast and departure to Etara – an unique open air museum of authentic traditional crafts, created to preserve for the coming generations the appearance and the spirit of the old time Bulgarian mountain villages and the manufacturing traditions of the region. After the visit our trip contunue to Kazanlak with a short stop at Shipka, where we’ll se the biggest monumental Russian church. Lunch at Kazanlak and walk visit of the town – the Tracian Thumb (UNESCO) and the Historical Museum. Evening arrival at Plovdiv, dinner and overnight.
Day 5. Plovdiv – Rila monastery - Melnik – Sandanski
In the morning, after breakfast, we’ll tour the Old Town of Plovdiv, famous for its National Revival Period architecture (18th-19th centuries) with ethnographic museums and Roman Amphitheatre (2nd century.) Next, we’ll take a drive to the Rila Monastery- the largest monastery in Bulgaria and all of the Balkan Peninsula. We’ll have lunch, and take a departure to Melnik – the smallest bulgarian town, which perserves it’s medieval spirit, famous for it’s wines. Evening arrival at Sandanski, dinner and overnight.
Day 6. Sandanski – GRECIA – Tesalónica - Kalambaka
Breakfast and departure towards Greece. We’ll pass the frontier and the first village to visit we’ll be Tesalonica (walk visit of the town and lunch). Departure to Kalambaka, passing alongside of Litohoro – the last village in the foot of Olimp. Short stop to take panoramic pictures of the region and continue to Kalambaka. Dinner and overnight at kalambaka.
Day 7. Meteora
Breakfast and full day visit of the Meteora Monasteries – may be one of the modern wonders of the world. Lunch at local restaurant, dinner and overnight at Kalambaka.
Day 8. Kalambaka - Delphi - Osios Lukas Monastery- Atenas
After breakfast we’ll departure to Delphos, famous by the temple dedicated to Apolo God. Visit of this sacrosanct place and continue to the Osios Lukas Monastery (UNESCO). Evening arrival at Athenas, dinner and overnight.
Day 9. Atenas
Breakfast and full day walk visit of Athenas. Lunch at local restaurant. Dinner and overnight.
Day 10. Departure
After breakfast you’ll depart for the Athenas Airport to take flight home.
