Day 1
Accommodation at hotel Princess 4* in Sofia.
Day 2
After breakfast we will visit the city of Sofia that includes the following sights: St Alexander Nevsky Cathedral, the large archaeological complex of Roman and medieval ruins, dominated by St. George Rotunda (4C), St Sofia Church (5C), which gave the city its name and other principal sights. Visit to the National Museum of History and to the Boyana Church (incl. in the UNESCO’s List of World Heritage) – the most famous Bulgarian medieval monument. At the evening dinner at a typical folklore restaurant “Vodenitsata” with a live folklore show. Overnight.
Day 3
After breakfast we will start for Rila Monastery (incl. in the UNESCO’s List of World Heritage), the biggest monastery in Bulgaria with centuries old history. The monastery was founded in 10th c. by St. John of Rila. We will have lunch at the nearby restaurant where our guests can taste fresh trout. After lunch our tour continues towards the town of Melnik the smallest town in Bulgaria. Overnight.
Day 4
Visit to the town of Melnik and the monastery of Rozhen. Then our journey continues to the city of Plovdiv. After lunch we will make a walking visit to the old town, where we can see the typical architecture from the Bulgarian National Revival Period as well as very well preserved amphitheatre. Overnight in Plovdiv.
Day 5
After breakfast a visit to the Bachkovo Monastery the second biggest monastery in Bulgaria, built in the 10th century A.C. A journey continues to the famous Valley of the Roses, near the town of Kazanlak. On the way we stopover to visits to the Thracian Tomb “Starossel” nearby the town of Hissarya and the Thracian Tomb in the town of Kazanlak (4C BC), included in the UNESCO’s List of World Heritage. Accommodation in the 3* hotel in Kazanlak.
Day 6
After breakfast we will depart for the city of Veliko Tarnovo. On our way to Veliko Tarnovo we’ll visit the Shipka Memorial Church, than we’ll drive through the Shipka mountain pass with a pit stop at the open-air Ethnographic Museum of “Etara”, visit the small town of Tryavna, picturesquely situated on both banks of a bubbly river in the northern slopes of the Balkan Range, and the Dryanovo Monastery. Veliko Tarnovo. Overnight.
Day 7
Sightseeing tour of Veliko Tarnovo includes visit to Tsarevets hill - the fortress of the Bulgarian monarchs (12-14C) and the National Revival architectural complex. Then we will pay a visit to the village of Arbanassi and to one of the fourteen monasteries in the neighborhood, Church of the Trinity, called the Sistine chapel on the Balkans. In the afternoon our guests will have free time to make some shopping and dinner at the hotel. After dinner we will watch the Sound & Light Show (optional).
Day 8
After breakfast we will head to the city of Russe. On the way we’ll visit the Rocky Monasteries at the village of Ivanovo (included in the UNESCO’s List of World Heritage) and the medieval fortress of Cherven. After we get to Russe, we will make a sightseeing tour of the city. Overnight.
Day 9
After breakfast we will leave for Shumen. Visit to the Thracian Tomb near the village of Sveshtary (included in the UNESCO’s List of World Heritage).Sightseeing tour of the town of Shumen, which includes the Monument to the 1300 anniversary of the Bulgarian State and the Tombul Mosque. Overnight.
Day 10
We continue our journey to the city of Varna - the pearl of the Bulgarian Black Sea Coast. On our way we will stop for a visit of the historical and architectural reserve Madara, where we’ll see the Madara Horseman (included in the UNESCO’s List of World Heritage). Afterwards we will take a look to the ruins of Pliska - the first Bulgarian capital. Varna. Overnight
Day 11
After breakfast we will make a trip to the town of Balchik with the Botanical Garden, the Cape of Kaliakra and the Aladzha Monastery. At the afternoon we’ll drive back to Varna where we have overnight.
Day 12
Drive to the picturesque towns of Nessebar (incl. in the UNESCO’s List of World Heritage) and Sozopol. Overnight in Bourgas.
Day 13
Drive to Kalofer, visit to a Bulgarian weaving workshop, sightseeing of Zheravna – small village from the National Revival period. Kalofer is small town in the Rose Valley, the native place of one of the greatest Bulgarian poets – Hristo Botev. Dinner and overnight in authentic Bulgarian house.
Day 14
Departure for the town of Koprivshtitza which is architectural and historic reserve– sightseeing tour. Sofia. Overnight.
Day 15
Transfer to the airport of Sofia
